Why Exercise? So you can serve the Lord with diligence!
It helps promote weight loss and maintenance of ideal body weight. It decreases cardiovascular risk by making the heart pump more efficiently. It improves circulation. It reduces demands on the pancreas. It improves our muscular tone. It reduces stress. Protects against some cancers. It lowers blood sugar by speeding the transport of glucose in the cells. Reduces the risk of heart disease. Aerobic exercise (exercise that gets us breathing) strengthens the heart and blood vessels, increases HDL ("good") cholesterol and lowers triglyceride levels. Helps lift mood. Thanks to chemicals released in the brain during exercise, you may find feelings of anxiety, depression and mental stress melt away during a workout. (Especially when the Word of God is released over your life during class).
Greatest improvements seem to come after weeks of regular exercise, so stick with it! Lowers blood pressure. Bolsters the immune system. Regular, moderate activity benefits the immune system, which may mean fewer colds, viruses and infections for you. Reduces the risk of developing diabetes. Helps maintain bones and joints. Weight-bearing exercise can help prevent osteoporosis, while a sedentary lifestyle promotes bone loss. Physical activity is important for keeping joints and muscles strong, along with promoting flexibility and balance. Honors the Lord and brings Glory to His Name! You can do it!
